INTRODUCING OUR CHURCHWARDENS
Churchwardens are the bishop’s senior lay officers in a parish and the principal representatives of the congregation. Elected annually at the joint Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), they work alongside the vicar to manage day-to-day church operations, care for the buildings, and promote the community’s spiritual wellbeing. At the Parish of Whaley Bridge, we now have four excellent churchwardens in post who oversee our two churches; Stella Whitehurst and Chris Nelson at Holy Trinity Church while John Swift and Jeff Swindells attend to St James’ Church, Taxal.
